The Ramapo Police Youth Academy marked a milestone this week as its 52nd graduating class completed the intensive program, with 28 students from Ramapo, Spring Valley, and Suffern high schools earning their certificates after four months of dedication and hard work.
Throughout the academy, participants received hands-on exposure to a wide range of law enforcement and public safety disciplines, including K-9 operations, criminal investigations, crash investigation, drug recognition, and an inside look at federal operations with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Students also learned from specialized units such as the Bomb Squad and Marine Unit, gaining insight into the diverse roles within modern policing.
As part of the program, cadets earned CPR certification through the Spring Hill Ambulance Corps and benefited from instruction and presentations by partner agencies, including the Rockland County Sheriff’s Department and the Rockland County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Program organizers praised the graduates for their commitment and professionalism, thanking all partnering agencies for their time and support in showcasing the many facets of the law enforcement profession. Officials said they are proud of the newest graduates and look forward to seeing how the experience shapes their future paths.
