The Ramapo Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit conducted an enforcement operation Tuesday morning targeting compliance with the Town of Ramapo’s local taxicab regulations. During the operation, officers found 14 separate taxicabs operating in violation of the town’s taxi and livery requirements.
Officials reminded drivers that any taxi or livery vehicle picking up passengers within the Town of Ramapo must be operated by a Ramapo-licensed driver, and the vehicle itself must be registered and inspected by the Town of Ramapo Taxi Commission. Vehicles that are properly authorized are issued a Ramapo Taxi Sticker, which must be displayed.
Authorities are urging drivers who have not yet begun the licensing process to contact the Town of Ramapo Taxi Commission to ensure compliance.
For more information or to begin the registration process, drivers can contact the commission at (845) 357-5100 ext. 440 or by email at RamapoTaxi@Ramapo.org.
