The Town of Ramapo Police Department hosted a collaborative meeting this week, bringing together all five Town Supervisors from across Rockland County to highlight advancements in public safety technology, including its innovative Drone as First Responder (DFR) program.
During the session, Ramapo Police Chief Danny Hyman presented how the department’s drone program is already transforming emergency response operations by allowing units to arrive at scenes virtually before officers, improving both response times and situational awareness.
The event featured a live demonstration of the department’s drone capabilities, with real-time footage streamed to attendees on a large screen. Representatives from Skydio, including CEO Adam Bry, were in attendance and helped sponsor the event.
Also participating were several high-profile law enforcement figures and experts, including John Chell, Tarik Sheppard, and Devin Ross, all of whom are graduates of the FBI National Academy. The group discussed advancements in drone technology, with a focus on the capabilities of the Skydio X10 platform.
Officials described the meeting as a productive step forward in regional cooperation and innovation, emphasizing how emerging technology continues to play a growing role in enhancing public safety efforts throughout the Town of Ramapo.
Authorities say additional updates on the expansion and use of the drone program are expected in the near future.
