Ramapo Police Department took to their social media platforms Tuesday morning to share a lighthearted yet serious account of a shoplifting incident that ended in an arrest.
“🚨 At what point did this individual think it was a great idea to stuff a Hallmark bag with electronics?” their post began, setting the tone. “We’re all for creative packaging, but when you’re already a known shoplifter with a trespassing ban from Walgreens and an active larceny warrant from Airmont… you might want to rethink your strategy.”
The individual, a New City resident, apparently walked out of the store as if it was business as usual, heading straight to the nearby bus stop. The police didn’t miss the irony, noting his casual demeanor despite his active warrants and history of shoplifting.
“Not a good start to the day. Good morning Ramapo! 🌞” the post continued, concluding with a reminder: “Oh, before you ask, yes…in Ramapo we still arrest shoplifters!”
The humorous yet stern message served to inform residents about local crime while adding a dose of levity to an otherwise serious matter.
