Ramapo Police Respond to Violent Confrontation Following Larceny and Fraudulent Check Cashing Attempt

In a dramatic turn of events on Thursday, the Ramapo Police Department found itself dealing with a series of incidents that culminated in a violent confrontation and the arrest of a 45-year-old suspect. The incident began with a report of a past larceny from a vehicle and escalated to a tense standoff at a bank in Hillcrest.

According to authorities, the initial call to the Ramapo Police Department pertained to a past larceny from a vehicle. An officer was dispatched to investigate the matter. However, while the officer was on the scene, a new call came in from a local bank in Hillcrest. The bank reported that a customer was attempting to fraudulently cash a check.

Upon arriving at the bank, officers encountered an individual who was allegedly being aggressive toward bank personnel and the responding officers. The situation took a dangerous turn when the suspect reportedly threatened to physically assault one of the officers. When informed that he was under arrest, the individual adopted an aggressive stance and clenched his fists.

Despite being taken into custody, the suspect decided to physically resist the officers. In the course of this struggle, he allegedly spat in the face of one officer and injured another. Both officers were subsequently transported to a local hospital for medical treatment and were later released.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the 45-year-old suspect was not only involved in the reported larceny but was also attempting to cash a check that had been stolen during that same crime. As a result, the suspect now faces a litany of charges, including Grand Larceny, Petit Larceny, Harassment, Assault, Obstructing Governmental Administration, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of a Forged Instrument, Disorderly Conduct, Criminal Trespass, and Resisting Arrest.

The suspect appeared in court Friday afternoon for arraignment before Ramapo Justice Desir. Subsequently, he was remanded to the Rockland County Jail, where he will await further legal proceedings.

The incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers that law enforcement officers face in the line of duty and underscores the importance of their commitment to maintaining public safety. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, and additional charges may be pending.

Residents of Ramapo are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the Ramapo Police Department promptly.

Sources tell Monsey Scoop that the suspect in this incident is the famous 80 Twin Criminal as Monsey Scoop reported in the past.
