On Sunday morning in Forshay, a Ramapo Police Officer made a heartwarming gesture that has been praised by the community. Officer Joseph Wassner of the Town of Ramapo Police Department took the time to encourage and support young entrepreneurs at a local lemonade stand.
A passerby who witnessed the scene shared their experience with Monsey Scoop. “I just drove by and saw the officer supporting local youth with their lemonade stand on a hot Sunday morning. I thought this deserved good media,” they said.
The passerby later emailed the town to express their appreciation. In their email, they described how they initially noticed the lemonade stand while driving but were unable to stop. On their way back, they made it a point to visit and support the young entrepreneurs. They were particularly struck by Officer Wassner’s presence and his supportive interaction with the children.
The email detailed how Officer Wassner offered words of encouragement, purchased lemonade, and provided a shining example of community policing. The passerby also praised the professionalism and excellent communication skills of Sergeant Lee, who they spoke with when sharing pictures of the moment with the department.
“This incident showcases the positive impact of good policing,” the passerby wrote. “It’s important for other agencies and the public to see the commendable actions of police officers behind the uniform. Thank you for your dedication to the community.”
The positive interaction between Officer Wassner and the young entrepreneurs serves as a reminder of the important role community policing plays in fostering trust and support within the community.
