In response to today’s stabbing incident in New York City, Town of Ramapo Supervisor Michael Specht and Police Chief Daniel Hyman said they are closely monitoring the situation and understand concerns within the local community.
According to the statement, Chief Hyman has been in contact with the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF), NYPD Intelligence, local law enforcement partners, and the Community Security Initiative (CSI) to stay informed as the investigation continues.
Officials stressed there is no known connection to Rockland County and no specific threat to the area. As a precaution, however, the Ramapo Police Department is increasing its presence in areas with heavy pedestrian traffic through additional patrols and the deployment of its Skydio Drone as First Responder (DFR) program.
The statement also stated that Chaverim has advised they will be alert for suspicious activity and call police if indicated.
Authorities are encouraging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement.
