As prom season approaches, the Ramapo Police Department is reminding students of a critical message: never drink and drive. On Friday, officers participated in a powerful mock DWI crash simulation at Ramapo High School, giving students a realistic look at the devastating consequences of impaired driving.
Students actively took part in the simulation as role players, helping recreate a crash scene that left a strong impression on their peers. The exercise was designed to highlight how quickly poor decisions behind the wheel can turn life-changing or even deadly.
The event was made possible through a collaborative effort with the East Ramapo Central School District, Spring Hill Community Ambulance Corps, Monsey Fire Department, the Rockland County Medical Examiner’s Office, Rockland County EMS & Pedestrian Safety, and Judge Straus of the Village of Airmont.
Officials emphasized that programs like this play a vital role in educating young drivers and reinforcing the importance of making responsible choices. Students were urged to plan ahead, avoid impaired driving, and prioritize safety for themselves and others on the road.
