Ramapo Police made an arrest early Friday morning after a Paladin DFR drone helped track down a suspect who allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and fled the scene in a white taxicab.
According to Ramapo Police Department, officers were dispatched to a report of a woman who had been struck in the face by her boyfriend. The suspect left the area before police arrived. At the time of the call, the department’s RAPTOR unit was already operating on another assignment and was immediately redirected to assist.
The Paladin DFR drone quickly located the white taxi and followed it to a driveway in the Hillcrest area, where two individuals were seen exiting the vehicle and entering a nearby residence. One of those individuals was identified as the assault suspect. Officers were guided to the location using real-time drone footage, which led to the suspect’s arrest without incident.
Police say the case highlights how the Paladin DFR program allows officers to rapidly and precisely deploy resources during active investigations. The 27-year-old suspect was arraigned Friday afternoon on an assault charge, released on an appearance ticket, and an order of protection was issued.
