The Ramapo Police Department (RPD) conducted extra DWI enforcement on New Year’s Eve, resulting in two arrests in the early hours of January 1st.
Shortly after midnight, an RPD officer pulled over a vehicle for multiple traffic violations and discovered the 20-year-old driver from Nanuet was intoxicated. Later at 2:30 AM, another RPD officer stopped a vehicle for various violations and found the 20-year-old Hillcrest resident behind the wheel was also driving while intoxicated.
Both drivers were arrested and charged with DWI, in addition to receiving citations for traffic violations. They were issued appearance tickets to appear at the Town of Ramapo Justice Court later this month.
The RPD’s efforts align with the Rockland County STOP DWI program and STOP DWI New York’s mission to combat drunk driving and enhance road safety. This serves as a reminder of the consequences of driving under the influence and underscores the importance of responsible choices during celebrations.
