The Ramapo Police Department announced that it received approval from the Town of Ramapo Police Commission, Ramapo Supervisor Michael Specht, and the Town of Ramapo Board to extend its partnership with Axon Enterprise during the January 5 Town Board meeting. The Department also thanked Mona Montal, Chief of Staff to the Town Supervisor, for her continued support.
The approval allows the Department to transition from the expiring TASER 7 platform to the new TASER 10, Axon’s most sophisticated Taser Energy Weapon to date. The TASER is considered a critical less-lethal tool for law enforcement, helping reduce the risk of injury to both police officers and the individuals they encounter.👉 Learn more about the TASER 10 here: https://www.axon.com/products/taser-10
In addition, the Department has recently equipped and trained officers with new Sig Sauer P320 service pistols outfitted with optics and weapon-mounted lights, representing advancements on both the lethal and less-lethal fronts.
Chief Daniel Hyman told Monsey Scoop, “The Taser 10 Energy Device is a significant advancement over the Taser 7. It nearly doubles the effective distance and offers a more advanced deployment system, giving our officers an improved less-lethal option when force is necessary and appropriate. Ultimately, it’s another tool that helps reduce the risk of injury to both officers and the people we encounter.”
Town Supervisor Michael Specht also told Monsey Scoop, “We continue to support the Ramapo Police Department with cutting-edge law enforcement technology because we know it helps keep our officers safer and also protects the public they serve.”
The Department thanked the Police Commission and Ms. Montal for their continued support, noting that the approval is another example of how Town leadership continues to prioritize public and officer safety across the Town of Ramapo.
