Ramapo Police Department Honors Officer David Small With Walkout Ceremony Upon Retirement

The Ramapo Police Department held a walkout ceremony on Friday, June 27, to honor the retirement of Community Policing Officer David Small, marking the end of a distinguished 29-year career in law enforcement.

Officer Small began his service in 1996 with the NYPD, where he worked in Midtown South and was a member of the NYPD Mounted Unit. In 2003, he joined the Town of Ramapo Police Department, where he served in a wide range of roles including Adopt-a-Cop, Field Training Officer, Police Instructor, Bike Patrol Officer, CRASE Instructor, DARE Officer, and most recently, as a Community Policing Officer. He was also a proud member of the department’s Honor Guard.

Throughout his career, Officer Small received numerous commendations and awards, including the prestigious American Legion Award for disarming a suspect armed with a knife. Known for his positive and uplifting personality, Officer Small earned the respect and admiration of both his fellow officers and the community he served.

The Ramapo Police Department expressed its deep appreciation for Officer Small’s dedication and service and wished him a happy and fulfilling retirement.
