Responding to growing concerns about pedestrian and bicycle crashes, the Ramapo Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit (TSU) conducted a focused safety operation today at a high-risk location in town. The initiative highlighted the department’s three-pillar approach of education, enforcement, and accountability.
Education: Officers distributed 100 pedestrian safety flyers this morning to promote safe practices for walkers and cyclists.
Enforcement: A targeted traffic detail was carried out, resulting in multiple citations, including:
- 3 speeding in a school zone violations
- 2 unlicensed operators
- 5 cellphone violations
- 2 seatbelt violations
- 2 disobeying a traffic control device citations
Accountability: All summonses issued have been forwarded to the appropriate courts for processing to ensure follow-through under the law.
“This initiative is another example of our commitment to making Ramapo’s roads safer for everyone,” the department said in a statement, noting that more actions of this kind can be expected in the future.

Thanks for this, but why block the already congested roads when pulling people over?
