In a continued effort to improve road safety, the Ramapo Police Department is cracking down on illegal mopeds and e-bike riders who disregard traffic laws.
On Thursday morning, a Ramapo officer stopped a 25-year-old male riding a Honda ADV150 moped on Airmont Road near North DeBaun Avenue. The rider was seen dangerously weaving through traffic, cutting off vehicles, and operating without license plates.
After being pulled over, the individual failed to produce proof of insurance. The moped was immediately towed, and multiple tickets were issued on the spot. The case has been forwarded to the Village of Airmont Justice Court.
Ramapo Police emphasized that enforcement is just the first step, and full accountability is determined through the court system. The department urges all riders to follow the law and operate only properly registered and insured vehicles.
