Officers from the Ramapo Police Department conducted a pedestrian safety enforcement and education initiative along Route 59 today, reminding drivers to yield to pedestrians, obey speed limits, stay alert, and avoid distracted driving, while encouraging pedestrians to use crosswalks and crossing signals, look both ways before crossing, make eye contact with drivers, stay visible, and avoid texting while crossing. The campaign’s message: “Pedestrian Safety: It’s No Accident.”
