According to the Ramapo Police Department, officers responded to the store after receiving reports that two male suspects had entered the building and claimed they were in possession of a bomb. The individuals fled the scene before police arrived, leading to an immediate evacuation of the store and the deployment of multiple law enforcement agencies.
Specialized K9 units trained in explosive detection conducted a thorough sweep of the premises, but no explosives were found.
Following an extensive investigation by the Ramapo Police Investigations Division, the two suspects were identified and taken into custody on Wednesday, March 12. Both individuals have been charged with Making a Terroristic Threat (D-Felony).
The suspects were arraigned before the Honorable Justice Straus of the Village of Airmont and were released without bail, pending future court appearances.
The investigation involved multiple agencies, including officers assigned to the FBI Task Force, the New York State Intelligence Center, the Rockland County Intelligence Center, the Rockland County Crime Analysis Center, the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit, and the Town of Clarkstown Police Department K9 Unit.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the suspects. The investigation remains ongoing.
