The Town of Ramapo Police Department announced the arrest of a 48-year-old man in connection with the theft of a motor vehicle from a residential driveway in Monsey.
According to police, the incident occurred during the overnight hours of May 24, 2026, when a vehicle was reported stolen from a driveway in the Monsey area. Detectives and patrol officers immediately launched an investigation into the theft, and the stolen vehicle was later recovered on a residential street in Spring Valley.
During the investigation, detectives identified a suspect who was captured on surveillance video. With assistance from the Spring Valley Police Department, the suspect was located and taken into custody on May 26, 2026.
Police said the suspect has been charged with Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Ramapo Court.
The Ramapo Police Department thanked the Spring Valley Police Department for their assistance in the investigation.
