Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at about 3:00 a.m., the owner of a business located within the Village of Airmont contacted Ramapo Police. They reported receiving an alert from their business’ security cameras and observed an unknown person inside the building. An astute RPD officer viewed the video and was able to identify the suspect by the clothing he was wearing.
Later that morning, the 27 year old male from Spring Valley was located and found to be in possession of property stolen from the commercial building. He had other miscellaneous items in his possession at the time of his arrest and these items were taken into evidence. He was charged with Burglary 3rd, Criminal Trespass 2nd, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th and Petit Larceny. He was arraigned by Judge Schoenberger of the Town of Ramapo Justice Court and remanded to Rockland County Jail en lieu of $50,000 cash/$100,000 bond.
Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at about 5:00 pm, a second business owner in the Village of Airmont reported seeing a person on their security cameras enter their building and steal an item from a box located in the hallway of the building on May 21, 2024 at about 5:15 am. After reviewing the video, RPD officers were able to determine that this suspect was the same 27 year old who had been arrested earlier that date and that he had been in possession of the stolen item at the time of his arrest.
Chaverim Of Rockland assisted the Ramapo Police with combing through security footage which led to the arrest of the suspect.
Wednesday, May 22, 2024, the suspect was charged with Burglary 3rd, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd and Grand Larceny 3rd degree on the second incident. He was processed at Rockland County Jail and issued an appearance ticket for a future court appearance.
