A 17-year-old was arrested after Ramapo Police responding to a domestic incident on June 26 discovered the teen in possession of a loaded 9mm ghost gun, authorities said.
Police say the untraceable firearm, commonly referred to as a “ghost gun” due to its lack of serial numbers, was found with eight rounds of ammunition. The teen was taken into custody and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree and Criminal Possession of a Firearm.
The individual was processed and released on an appearance ticket to the Youth Part of the Superior Court.
Officials noted that ghost guns represent a growing threat to public safety, and emphasized the department’s ongoing efforts to remove illegal firearms from the community.
