On the evening of July 3rd, the Ramapo Police Department (RPD) swiftly responded to a distress call regarding property damage at a residence in the New City area of the Town of Ramapo. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the caller’s vehicle and personal belongings had been significantly vandalized by a friend. The suspect not only caused substantial damage but also engaged in other unlawful activities.
Following a thorough investigation, RPD officers located the suspect in close proximity to the property. However, upon noticing the approaching officers, the suspect fled on foot into a densely wooded area. Officer Burr, accompanied by his trusty K9 partner Remi, skillfully pursued the suspect, eventually locating them concealed beneath a tree in the woods. Without any further incident, the suspect was apprehended and taken into custody.
On July 4th, the suspect was arraigned and now faces multiple charges, including Burglary in the Second Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree, Aggravated Harassment in the Second Degree, and Obstructing Governmental Administration. They have been remanded to the Rockland County Jail, where they are currently held on bail. Additionally, an Order of Protection has been issued to safeguard the victim.
