The Annual Mid-Hudson STOP-DWI Coordinators Awards Luncheon was held on Thursday in Middletown, New York, where law enforcement officers from across the region were recognized for their outstanding efforts in combating impaired driving throughout 2024.
Among those honored were Officer Genito and Officer Tursi of the Ramapo Police Department. The two officers were acknowledged for their dedication to DWI enforcement within the Town of Ramapo, helping to ensure the safety of local roads and communities.
Also receiving recognition were members of the New York State Police Troop F, Zone 1. At the Mid-Hudson Region DWI Conference, held on April 3 and sponsored by Orange County STOP-DWI, several troopers and sergeants were awarded for their proactive enforcement efforts. Pictured at the event were Lieutenant Dennis R. Carolan, Sergeant Clarissa A. Maldonado of SP Liberty, Sergeant/SC Dusty J. Bury of SP Liberty, Zone Sergeant Mary A. Kadet, Trooper Jordan A. Fedun of SP Liberty, Trooper Sekret O. Kukaj of SP Wurtsboro, Trooper Tyler J. Barton of SP Wurtsboro, Sergeant/SC Edward N. Donohue of SP Wurtsboro, and Major Andre R. Terry.
In addition, Troopers from Troop T (Thruway) Zone 1 were also recognized for their DWI enforcement throughout 2024. Those pictured included Major Andre J. Ray, Sergeant/SC Christopher J. Caraballo of SP New Rochelle, Zone Sergeant Thomas W. Eckert of SP Tarrytown, Sergeant Jackson I. Sewitt of SP Tarrytown, Trooper Brian D. Huyghue of SP Newburgh, Trooper Jose D. Gerez of SP Tarrytown, Trooper Christopher G. Monteiro of SP New Rochelle, and Captain Brian T. Ferrone. Kneeling in the photo were Trooper William Obert-Thorn of SP New Rochelle and Trooper Mirjan Curma of SP Newburgh.
The awards luncheon serves as an annual opportunity to celebrate and commend the efforts of law enforcement officers who have gone above and beyond in their commitment to keeping roadways safe from impaired drivers.
