Ramapo Police responded to a residence in the Village of Airmont on Thursday evening following a report of an unwanted individual who had repeatedly contacted a homeowner regarding the possible purchase of the residence.
Officers spoke with both the homeowner and the individual involved. At the homeowner’s request, police advised the individual that all further contact was unwanted and that he was not to return to the property. Police said the individual acknowledged the instructions and agreed not to return.
Following the incident, Ramapo Police deployed its Drone as First Responder program to check the surrounding area while officers continued patrol coverage.
Police later learned of concerns that additional text messages had been received and sent an officer back to the residence to personally follow up. During that visit, the homeowner told police that a text message had been received apologizing for the earlier contact.
The homeowner was offered the opportunity to pursue charges but declined, according to police.
Ramapo Police said officers documented the incident, conducted additional follow-up and will continue monitoring the area through ground patrols and the department’s Drone as First Responder program using a Skydio X10 drone.
Police are encouraging residents who observe suspicious activity or feel unsafe to contact the Ramapo Police Department so officers can investigate and take appropriate action.
