Ramapo Driver Ticketed Twice in Same Day for Unlicensed Operation

The Ramapo Police Department reported an unusual but telling incident as part of its ongoing enforcement against unlicensed and suspended drivers. According to police, an 18-year-old male drove a taxicab to a Walmart parking lot before walking through the police station lot to appear at Town Justice Court regarding a prior unlicensed operation ticket. While he arrived “by taxi,” authorities say he failed to disclose that he had been the one driving the vehicle.

A short time later, officers stopped the individual again and issued an additional ticket for unlicensed operation. Police noted that the incident underscores a recurring issue they have been actively targeting through increased traffic enforcement efforts.

  1. I spoke with the manager of GoCab. The driver involved is not personally enrolled with the company; he was operating his father’s vehicle. The registered driver has been suspended due to allowing an unauthorized individual to operate a marked taxi.
