Ramapo Braces for Snow and Freezing Drizzle; Schools on Delay

In an important weather update from the Ramapo Highway Department, residents of the Town of Ramapo are advised of changing weather conditions expected to start this evening and continue into Tuesday afternoon. Although dry conditions are forecasted for the remainder of the afternoon and early evening, a few snow flurries could occur between 7pm and 10pm. The main weather event, however, is set to begin at 10pm tonight, with a weather system bringing snow and possibly some freezing drizzle to the area.

The heaviest snowfall, accumulating between 2 to 4 inches, is anticipated from 10pm Monday to 11am Tuesday. Following the snowfall, a mix of freezing drizzle is expected from around 10am to 3pm on Tuesday, potentially leading to a light glaze of ice. Conditions are expected to improve by mid-afternoon Tuesday, with dry weather returning later in the day and into the night. The overnight low for tonight is forecasted at around 24°F, with Tuesday’s high reaching approximately 30°F.

In response to the forecasted conditions, the East Ramapo Central School District has announced a 2-hour delay for all its schools on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. The delay is a precautionary measure due to the anticipated adverse weather conditions. Residents are urged to drive cautiously and stay updated on the latest weather reports.
