In the wake of the Rachmastrivka Rebbe ZT”L Petirah several few months ago, the Rachmistrivka Kehilla in Monsey turned to the Rebbe’s grandson, Harav Yakov Yosef, who is now regarded as the Rachmastrivka Rebbe of Spring Valley.
Harav Yakov Yosef holds a significant lineage, being the oldest son of the late Reb Mottel ZT”l, who was, in turn, the eldest son of the revered Rachmastrivka Rebbe ZT”L Additionally, he is the son-in-law of the Rachmastrivka Rav in Monsey. His reputation extends far and wide, as he is recognized for his exceptional knowledge and leadership in all aspects of life.
The Chassidim of Rachmastrivka in Monsey have eagerly embraced him as their rebbe, even though initially, the Rebbe did not accept the mantle of leadership, despite his father-in-law, the Rachmastrivka Rav in Monsey, making the request.
This past Shabbos marked a historic turning point when a special announcement was made before Krias Hatora: the Rebbe had finally accepted the mantle of leadership, and he would now guide the Chassidim as their Rebbe.
The Rebbe requested that it be publicly announced that, for the sake of shalom, he should be referred to as the ‘Rachmastrivka Rebbe of Spring Valley.’
Monsey Scoop notes that following the passing of the late Rachmastrivka Rebbe ZT”L, we have consistently referred to the Rebbe as the ‘Rachmastrivka Rebbe of Spring Valley’ and to Harav Yehoshua Hershel Shlit”a as the ‘Rachmastrivka Rebbe of Monsey’ in order for our readership to distinguish between the two Rebbe’s. Despite initial resistance from the Kehilla leadership – including threats made directly to Monsey Scoop – the Rebbe has now officially embraced the same nomenclature that Monsey Scoop has been using all along.
