As Pesach approaches, local municipalities across Ramapo are rolling out their enhanced garbage pickup schedules to assist residents with proper Chometz disposal and general cleanup. Please note that all Shabbos pickups will take place after Sof Zman Achilas Chometz to ensure halachic compliance. Here’s what you need to know:
-
Town of Ramapo: Pesach cleaning across the town is in full swing! Extra crews will be out in force throughout this week and next—collecting garbage, sweeping streets, and keeping neighborhoods spotless. Residents are encouraged to place bulk items at the curb now and not wait until the last minute. The final day to put out bulk is Thursday, April 10 by 6:00 AM. There will be regular garbage pickup on Friday, April 11, and an extra special pickup on Shabbos (April 12). Residents are reminded that hazardous waste—including paint, batteries, cleaning products, pesticides, bulbs, and electronics—must be brought to the County’s Household Waste Facility in Pomona. Tires may not be left out without the proper sticker from the Town Clerk’s Office. Let’s work together to make Ramapo shine this Yom Tov!
-
Village of Wesley Hills: Roll-off containers will be placed at the Village Hall parking lot starting Thursday, April 10 at 6:00 AM through Friday, April 11 at 4:00 PM.
-
Village of New Hempstead: An additional garbage pickup is scheduled for Saturday, April 12 (regular curbside, no recycling). Residents are asked not to put out bulk items and to place garbage at the curb the night before. A dumpster for household garbage will also be available at Village Hall from March 31 through April 14.
-
Village of Spring Valley: The entire village will have daily garbage pickup from Wednesday, April 9 through Saturday, April 12. Collections will be handled by Carlo Minuto Carting.
-
Village of Airmont: Garbage pickup will take place on Saturday, April 12. Additionally, six dumpsters will be available in the back parking lot of Village Hall, from Thursday afternoon through Friday afternoon.
-
Village of Pomona: Additional garbage pickups will take place on Friday, April 11 and Saturday, April 12.
-
Village of Chestnut Ridge: Garbage pickups will occur on Wednesday, April 9 and Friday, April 11. Roll-off containers will be placed at 448 Saddle River Road and 757 Chestnut Ridge Road, and will be available from April 7 through April 12. The Shabbos pickup will begin at 6:00 AM and aims to finish by 1:00 PM.
-
Village of New Square: Daily garbage, recycling, and bulk pickup is scheduled from April 6 through April 11. Ten large dumpsters will be placed throughout the village by Carlo Minuto Carting and will be removed on Shabbos after Sof Zman Achilas Chometz.
-
Village of Kaser: Daily garbage pickup will take place from March 30 through April 11. All boxes should be placed at the curb before 12:00 AM on Friday, April 4. On Shabbos Erev Pesach, two containers (locations to be announced) will be placed for Chometz only and will be removed after Sof Zman Achilas Chometz. Residents should separate regular trash, boxes, and bottles into proper containers and are encouraged to begin cleaning early.
Residents are urged to follow all guidelines and take full advantage of these expanded services to ensure a clean and smooth Yom Tov.
