POMONA: Residents Rescued from Smoke-Filled Home After Microwave Sparks Structure Fire on White Birch Drive

Emergency personnel responded Sunday evening to a structure fire at 47 White Birch Drive near Camp Hill Road in Pomona. A Monsey Scoop reporter, who arrived at the scene just minutes after the blaze broke out, along with an Hatzoloh volunteer who happened to be nearby, bravely entered the smoke-filled home and rescued the residents inside.

The fire reportedly originated from a microwave. The occupants attempted to unplug the appliance when it began sparking, but heavy smoke quickly filled the house, forcing them to evacuate with assistance.

Two individuals were treated on scene by Hatzoloh EMS for smoke inhalation. Multiple agencies responded, including the Hillcrest and Thiells Fire Departments, Hatzoloh EMS, Spring Hill EMS, Ramapo Police Department, and Chaverim of Rockland. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
