Firefighters from the Piermont Fire Department responded to a reported appliance fire at a residence on Paradise Avenue on Monday at approximately 10:30 a.m., swiftly containing the blaze and preventing further damage.
Emergency dispatchers received reports of a fire at 46 Paradise Avenue in the Village of Piermont. Within minutes, the first arriving fire officer confirmed smoke was visible from the home. Recognizing the urgency, he requested additional resources, including a rapid intervention team from the Nyack Fire Department.
Fire crews quickly secured a hydrant near the residence and stretched a hose line to the front door. Firefighters entered the structure and located the source of the fire—a dryer that had ignited in the rear bathroom on the first floor. Crews worked efficiently to extinguish the flames, preventing the fire from spreading further.
Once the fire was out, firefighters determined that while the flames caused minor fire damage to the bathroom, significant smoke damage affected the residence. No injuries were reported.
The Piermont Fire Department reminds residents to regularly inspect household appliances, especially dryers, to reduce fire risks. Fire crews remained on the scene for some time to conduct overhaul operations and ensure there were no lingering hazards.
