During the Pearl River annual parade, a potentially tragic incident was averted thanks to the prompt and skilled intervention of EMS Lt. Hope Goswick from the Piermont Fire Department. Witnessing a community member collapse from sudden cardiac arrest, Lt. Goswick, with the assistance of the victim’s son, immediately began CPR efforts.
Quickly after, additional EMS personnel arrived and took over, allowing the patient to be transported to the hospital by the Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps Paramedics. Remarkably, the patient regained consciousness and was alert by the time they reached the hospital, a testament to the effective early CPR and teamwork among the emergency responders.
This swift action by Lt. Goswick and the coordinated efforts of multiple EMS teams underscored the crucial impact of immediate medical intervention, successfully saving a life amidst the parade festivities.
