A driver was killed early Sunday morning in a multi-vehicle crash on the Palisades Interstate Parkway near the New York State line, authorities confirmed, as first reported by Jerry DeMarco (Independent Online News).
According to officials, Parkway Police responded to the scene at approximately 6:45 a.m. on Sunday, January 11, where three damaged vehicles were found spread along the roadway in Alpine. Two of the vehicles were located close together, while a third was found some distance away.
The deceased driver was discovered inside a Honda sedan, authorities said. No additional details regarding the victim’s identity were immediately released.
The crash remains under investigation by Palisades Interstate Parkway Police and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Task Force, with assistance from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Identification, which processed evidence at the scene. Members of the Port Authority Police Department Emergency Services Unit also responded.
Officials advised that lane closures and traffic detours were established along the parkway as the investigation continued and warned that delays could persist throughout the morning hours.
