Overnight Winter Parking Restrictions Begin Across Rockland County

As of November 1, several towns and villages in Rockland County have implemented winter parking restrictions to facilitate snow and ice removal. Additional municipalities will enforce similar measures starting November 15. Residents are advised to adhere to these regulations to ensure safe and efficient roadway maintenance during the winter months.

Below is a summary of the winter parking rules across Rockland County municipalities:

  • Village of Airmont: No overnight parking from November 1 to April 1.
  • Chestnut Ridge: No street parking from midnight to 6 a.m., November 1 to April 1.
  • Hillburn: No street parking between midnight and 6 a.m. when snow is forecasted or has accumulated.
  • Montebello: No street parking from midnight to 6 a.m., November 1 to April 1.
  • New Hempstead: No street parking from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m., November 1 to April 1.
  • Pomona: No street parking year-round between midnight and 6 a.m.
  • Sloatsburg: No street parking from midnight to 6 a.m., December 1 to April 1.
  • Wesley Hills: No street parking year-round between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Town of Ramapo: Parking is permitted except during snow events or when snow is forecasted. Here’s the official law: “No vehicle shall be parked on any street within the Town of Ramapo when snow is forecasted by the National Weather Service or during any time snow is actively accumulating on the streets until the snow has been cleared.”
  • Town of Clarkstown: No overnight parking from November to April to allow snow plows to clear roads.
  • Town of Orangetown: No parking on public highways between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., November 15 to April 15.
  • Village of Haverstraw: No parking on streets from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m., November 15 to March 31, with fines for violations.
  • Town of Stony Point: Winter parking ordinance in effect from November 1 to March 31, prohibiting parking on public streets from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Village of Spring Valley: Winter parking restrictions are in effect from November 15 through April 15, prohibiting parking on all village roads, streets, and municipal lots between 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. Residents without private parking may register exempt vehicles with the Spring Valley Police Department to park in designated municipal spaces. Registered vehicle owners will be notified when snow removal requires vehicles to be moved.

These regulations are designed to help maintain safety on Rockland’s roads during winter conditions. Local police departments have announced increased enforcement, and violators may face fines.
