A Hatzoloh EMS of Rockland County paramedic responding to an unresponsive child inside Costco in Nanuet parked the emergency vehicle in a handicapped parking space with its emergency lights activated Friday afternoon before rushing inside to render emergency medical care.
Monsey Scoop has confirmed that the paramedic was actively responding to the critical call at the time the video was recorded.
After the incident, a video of the emergency vehicle was posted online by Joe Morrison and shared in Clarkstown-area Facebook groups, where it generated extensive discussion. Community members said the posts omitted the fact that the paramedic was responding to a medical emergency involving an unresponsive child, and noted that some of the ensuing comments were antisemitic and hostile toward Hatzoloh and Orthodox Jews.
The incident has sparked criticism from members of the community, who say emergency responders are often required to park in otherwise restricted locations when responding to life-threatening emergencies where every second counts. They argue that sharing the video without the full context created a misleading impression of the circumstances surrounding the emergency response.
Community members are also calling on William P. Faist EMS and the Spring Valley Fire Department, where Morrison volunteers, to review the matter in accordance with their policies and determine whether any action is appropriate.
As of publication, neither, William P. Faist EMS, nor the Spring Valley Fire Department had issued a public statement regarding the incident.

Faist Volunteer Ambulance Corps announced Sunday that its Board of Directors is investigating the incident. The agency said it is taking the matter “very seriously” and is conducting a thorough review in accordance with its bylaws, rules, and established procedures. Faist added that it has no further comment at this time.

On a side note, most people parking at the handicapped spots WITH permits walk perfectly fine……….
There could be an invisible disability going on….heart lungs. No one knows what anyone is going through.
Permit has nothing to do how they walk. It’s issued for many medical conditions which most aren’t visible.
I challenge you to observe the handicapped parking spots and see how perfectly healthy people with families park there while the real disabled grandma stayed home. Give me a break! Most dont deserve the permit or have no longer a need for it but still use it because it didnt expire yet.

Also, COPD, asthma, syncope, orthostatic hypotension, just a few ‘invisible’ illnesses that make not walking, but rather walking distances difficult. Just an fyi but yes, there are far too many people fraudulently using another person’s handicapped tag.
The reason that the Clarkstown community have issues with ramapo and specifically the hasidic community is because for many years Aron weider has been bashing them including and campaigning against Ed Day, Mike Lawler, Bill Weber, John megowen, and more, shouting and insulting everyone he didn’t agree with, besides that he messed up the school district, he messed up by COVID, he messed up as legislature, and called everyone antisemite for no reason, we must get rid of him so he won’t mess up anymore

If he genuinely was upset that he “took up a handicap spot even though he was on an emergency call”, he could have stated that clearly (still a silly thing to get upset) instead of going nuclear and pretending not to notice that the lights were activated. Being against Hatzalah is the most braindead thing imaginable. They are state certified EMTs with (very often) sub 2 minute response times and this guy, apparently an EMT himself, should respect them for it.

Under New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law (VTL) § 1104, drivers of authorized emergency vehicles involved in an “emergency operation” are explicitly permitted to stop, stand, or park irrespective of standard parking and traffic regulations.
IN THE END OF THE DAY A CHILD HAS BEEN SAVED THANKS TO THIS HATZOLOH PARAMEDIC, HE DESERVES CREDIT FOR SAVING ANOTHER PERSONS LIFE, NOT HATE.

This firefighter saw a car with flashing lights parked in a handicap spot at a busy Costco and assumed improper personal use. Meanwhile this was a medical professional (paramedic) rushing to save a child. Hopefully this is a lesson to investigate before posting on social media. It’s easy to fan flames of hatred and hard to put those flames out!
