Orangetown Police Investigating Double Fatal Shooting Inside Nyack Home

The Orangetown Police Department is investigating a tragic incident that occurred on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at approximately 4:34 p.m. Officers responded to a residence at 290 North Midland Avenue in Nyack following a report from a family member regarding a past domestic situation.

After multiple unsuccessful attempts to make contact with the homeowner, the Rockland County REACT (SWAT) Team was called to the scene. Upon making a safe entry into the residence, officers discovered the bodies of a 52-year-old male and a 55-year-old female, both deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. A shotgun, believed to be the weapon used in the incident, was recovered at the scene.

According to police, there were no prior domestic incident reports at the location. The Orangetown Police Department’s Detective Bureau is actively investigating and urges anyone with information or who may have noticed suspicious activity in the area to contact detectives at (845) 359-2121.

The Orangetown Police Department was assisted by the Rockland County REACT Team, Rockland County Sheriff’s BCI Unit, Clarkstown Police Department, Rockland County Medical Examiner’s Office, Rockland Paramedics, and Nyack Ambulance Corps.
