Orangetown Police Department Honored With AAA Gold Award for Traffic Safety Excellence

The Town of Orangetown Police Department has been recognized with two prestigious Community Traffic Safety Awards from AAA Northeast for its 2024 traffic safety efforts. The department earned the Gold Award, while Officer Paul Valentine received the Traffic Safety Leadership Award for his exceptional contributions to improving roadway safety.

Now in its 61st year, AAA’s Annual Traffic Safety Program honors communities that go above and beyond to make local roads safer for all users. The program emphasizes the Safe System Approach, which focuses on five key areas: Safer People, Safer Roads, Safer Vehicles, Safer Speeds, and Post-Crash Care. This framework underscores that roadway safety is a shared responsibility requiring collaboration between law enforcement, local governments, and the community.

The awards were presented by John A. Corlett, Vice President of Public & Government Affairs at AAA Northeast, who joined Officer Paul Valentine of the Orangetown Police Department for the recognition ceremony.
