Orangetown Police Department Arrests Bronx Man for Series of Golf Pro Shop Burglaries

The Orangetown Police Department Detective Bureau announced the arrest of Matthew S. Berman, 41, of the Bronx, in connection with a string of burglaries targeting golf pro shops.

Berman was taken into custody on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, and charged with multiple felonies, including four counts of Burglary in the 3rd Degree (Class D Felony), Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree (Class D Felony), Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 3rd Degree (Class D Felony), and Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree (Class E Felony).

According to authorities, Berman is accused of unlawfully entering several golf pro shops in Orangetown over the past few months and stealing a variety of golf clubs. Following his arraignment in Orangetown Justice Court, he was released and is scheduled to return to court on April 15, 2025.

The Orangetown Police Department extended its gratitude to multiple law enforcement agencies for their assistance in the investigation, including the Westchester County Real Time Crime Center, New York State Police SIU, New Castle Police Department, Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, Yonkers Police Department, FBI Safe Streets Westchester, Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, Haverstraw Police Department, and the NYPD.
