Orange County Man Indicted for Attempted Murder Following New City Stabbing, Faces High Bail

Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced today that Elijah Dean, 23, of Orange County, New York was arraigned before the Honorable Anne Bianchi on one count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, two counts of Assault in the First Degree, and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree on May 3, 2024.
As Monsey Scoop reported, On April 11, 2024, at approximately 8:37 pm, Ramapo police officers responded to Trailside Place in New City, located in the Town of Ramapo for a reported assault. Officers discovered that the victim had been approached in his driveway by an unknown male and was stabbed multiple times. The defendant, Elijah Dean, is alleged to have inflicted multiple stab wounds on the victim to his body, head, and neck. The victim was transported to the hospital by ambulance in serious condition.
The investigation was conducted by the Town of Ramapo Police Department, with the assistance of the Spring Valley Police Department, Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, Clarkstown Police Department, and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office BCI.
District Attorney Tom Walsh said, “As alleged, this brutal act of apparently random violence is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated in Rockland County. I commend the Town of Ramapo Police Department and assisting agencies for apprehending the suspect in this case in 48 hours.”
Bail was set and maintained at 1 million cash, 5 million secured bond, 10 million partially secured bond at 10 % and the defendant was remanded to Rockland County Jail. The defendant is scheduled to return to court on June 18, 2024.
Executive Assistant District Attorney Kristin Tirino and Assistant District Attorney John Longo are prosecuting the case.
