The New York State Senate has once again approved legislation that would legalize assisted suicide, advancing the measure despite strong opposition from lawmakers and advocacy groups across New York State.
In a notable break from party unity, six Democratic State Senators joined all Republican State Senators in voting against the bill. Among those Democrats was New York State Senator Sam Sutton, who represents the Borough Park district.
New York State Senator Bill Weber spoke forcefully against the legislation, citing serious ethical, moral, and public policy concerns. Senator Weber warned that the bill could place seniors, individuals with disabilities, and other vulnerable populations at risk during their most difficult moments, and said his opposition reflects the overwhelming concerns of constituents across his district.
With Senate approval secured once again, the legislation is expected to continue facing significant debate as it moves through the remainder of the legislative process.

SO PROUD OF YOU SENATOR WEBER YOU ARE A GEM! ROCLKAND COUNTY IS LUCKY TO HAVE YOU THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO
And here we are again, unfortunately our State Senator Weber wasn’t able to provide any help to block this because he is in the minority. A real waste of taxpayer dollars.
Even the moderate Democrats couldn’t stop it including Senator Sam Sutton from Borough Park. At least Senator Weber is on the right side on this issue. The Libtard from Nyack would definitely vote for this.
What a stupidity, even if he would be a Democrat, and vote no it would anyway pass.
You’re just full of hate. And jealous
Thank you Senator Weber!! He is a wonderful advocate.
I am happy to hear this. When I can no longer take care of myself, I want to leave this planet of my own volition. Assisted Living is not for me. Watching my mother’s decline and loss of autonomy in her final years was heartbreaking. I do not want to put that burden on my son or extended family. To each their own but this is what I want to do.
Did they ever experience having such severe pain that they would go out of their mind. If someone is forced to endure this and the inevitable is death..is it humane?. Seeing this process is emotionally painful for family and friends. We can put our pets down when they are suffering which is believed to be “humane”. This is a misconstrued religious issue.
GOD is the Author of Life and Death. All “rights” come from Him. Sad day for New York.
