On Friday, a meeting was held to address safety concerns on Cragmere Road, bringing together key local officials and representatives. Among those in attendance were Senator Bill Weber, Ramapo Supervisor Michael Specht, Airmont Mayor Nathan Bubel, Deputy Mayor Shimon Moses, Suffern Mayor Michael Curley, a representative from Congressman Mike Lawler’s office, Former Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick, Town of Ramapo OEP Joseph Margeratten, and local residents.
The gathering resulted in a crucial commitment from the Town of Ramapo to develop conceptual plans for the installation of sidewalks and lighting on Cragmere Road between Clark Park and Yorkshire Road. Additionally, the town agreed to create a walking path adjacent to Clark Park, enhancing pedestrian safety in the area.
Senator Bill Weber expressed his satisfaction with the collaborative effort, stating, “I was pleased to participate in a meeting that brought together representatives from all levels of government, including Congressman Mike Lawler’s office, the Town of Ramapo, and the Villages of Airmont and Suffern. Our united efforts are focused on enhancing safety for both pedestrians and motorists in the Cragmere and Campbell area.”
Ramapo Supervisor Michael Specht echoed this sentiment, adding, “This is a significant step forward in ensuring the safety of our residents. The development of sidewalks and lighting on Cragmere Road will greatly improve the daily lives of those who use this route. We are committed to seeing these plans through to completion.”
