NYS THRUWAY: Southbound Crash Near Orange/Rockland Border Levels 25 Guardrail Posts; Driver Walks Away Uninjured

Early Friday morning at approximately 7:30 AM, a high-speed crash on the NYS Thruway ended in what first responders are calling a miracle, after a driver struck the guardrail at a very high rate of speed while traveling southbound between Exits 16 and 15A, in Orange County near the Rockland County border.

The vehicle tore through 25 guardrail posts and destroyed roughly 100 yards of highway guardrail before finally coming to a stop. Despite the violent impact, the occupant was already out of the vehicle when emergency personnel arrived and showed no apparent injuries.

The Tuxedo Fire Department and NYSP responded to the scene, along with KJ Hatzolah EMS who transported the driver for evaluation as a precaution.

Officials say the fact that the driver walked away unharmed is truly remarkable.
