A serious accident involving a tractor-trailer and a car left the vehicle completely totaled on the southbound lanes of the New York State Thruway near Exit 15A earlier today. Emergency personnel, including Hatzoloh EMS, Spring Hill EMS, and New York State Police, quickly arrived at the scene.
Miraculously, the driver of the totaled car sustained only minor injuries and was transported to Westchester Medical Center by paramedics for further evaluation.
Firefighters from the Tallman and Hillburn Fire Departments assisted at the scene, managing traffic and ensuring safety. Motorists are advised to expect delays as cleanup efforts continue.
Scary reminder of what can happen in an instant.
I saw the wreckage and can’t believe someone survived.
Please, don’t tailgate and leave carlength for cars and 2 carlengths between you and a truck when following.
Many people driving were never taught this and would never have enough stopping distance to not come crashing into my car.
