NYS Police Crack Down on Fraudulent Plates in Cuomo Bridge Operation — 59 Vehicles Impounded

New York State Police from Troop T recently carried out another successful “Operation Plate Check” at the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, targeting vehicles with fraudulent, altered, or missing license plates — a common tactic used to evade tolls or drive uninsured and unregistered.

During the enforcement detail, troopers issued 206 tickets, including 60 for plate violations, and impounded 59 vehicles, nearly half due to unpaid tolls and fees. Additional violations included unregistered vehicles, suspended or revoked registrations, unlicensed drivers, speeding, cell phone use, and seatbelt infractions.

State Police thanked the New York State Thruway Authority for assisting with traffic control throughout the operation, ensuring all stops were conducted safely.
