New York State Police assigned to SP Tarrytown arrested a New Jersey man on May 24, 2026, after troopers observed him allegedly driving the wrong way along the shoulder of the New York State Thruway in Clarkstown.
According to police, at approximately 8:40 p.m., troopers spotted a 2017 Toyota Tacoma traveling southbound on the northbound lanes of Interstate 87. Troopers conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as 44-year-old Shawn A. Brady of Ridgefield Park, New Jersey.
During the investigation, troopers observed signs of impairment and administered standardized field sobriety tests, which police say Brady failed. He was subsequently taken into custody and transported to SP Tarrytown for processing, where he allegedly registered a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.14%.
Brady was charged with DWI and issued multiple uniform traffic tickets. He was later released to a sober third party and is scheduled to appear in Clarkstown Town Court on June 10, 2026.
