NYS Park Rangers Undergo Advanced Training with Rockland County Communications Division

This week, New York State Park Rangers are receiving advanced training at the Rockland County Communications Division. The training is a crucial step as Park Rangers prepare to implement in-vehicle mobile data terminals (MDTs), which will be integrated with the Division’s computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system, maintained by the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office. Damian Lennon, a Radio Communications Specialist, is leading the instruction.

The newly deployed Motorola Solutions FLEX CAD/MDT system will enable public safety responders to access call information, write reports, look up records, and perform other critical tasks from anywhere within Rockland County. The Communications Division serves as the central dispatch point for both the New York State Park Police and New York State Police (Troop F/Haverstraw) in Rockland County. This initiative is the result of a unique partnership and coordination between New York State and Rockland County resources. Annually, the Division manages thousands of service calls for these two state agencies, with a significant increase during the busy summer months.
