An earlier roof fire at Montefiore Nyack Hospital is now fully under control, with no injuries reported.
The incident began Sunday morning at approximately 8:44 a.m. as an automatic fire alarm, but was quickly upgraded to a structure fire after thick black smoke was observed coming from the roof. Sources tell Monsey Scoop that the fire involved a rubber membrane on the roof.
During the response, all ambulances were temporarily diverted from the hospital until the situation was fully stabilized.
Fire departments from Nyack, Central Nyack, Piermont, and West Nyack responded to the scene, along with Orangetown Police.
