Nyack Man Arrested After Pursuit on I-87; Faces Multiple Charges Including DWI and Forged Document Possession

On Monday evening, April 28, New York State Police arrested 34-year-old Alexis J. Santiago of Nyack following a brief pursuit on Interstate 87 near Exit 10.

The incident began around 6:10 p.m. when Troopers attempted to stop a BMW traveling northbound. The vehicle failed to comply, prompting a short pursuit that ended due to heavy traffic. Once stopped, Troopers detected the odor of alcohol while interacting with Santiago and his passenger.

Santiago was arrested on charges including Possession of a Forged Instrument in the 3rd Degree, Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the 2nd Degree, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in the 3rd Degree, Driving While Intoxicated, and multiple vehicle and traffic violations.

He was transported to SP Tarrytown for processing and later turned over to the Westchester County Police Department on unrelated warrants.

The Thruway was temporarily shut down during the incident but has since reopened. The investigation remains ongoing.
