NY State Police Issue Over 9,900 Tickets During Labor Day Weekend Enforcement Period

The New York State Police announced that troopers issued 9,912 tickets statewide as part of their enhanced traffic enforcement campaign over the Labor Day holiday weekend. The initiative, which ran from Friday, August 29, through Monday, September 1, 2025, was partially funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee and included sobriety checkpoints, increased DWI patrols, and enforcement targeting impaired and distracted driving.

During the enforcement period, troopers arrested 225 motorists for DWI. In addition, police issued 3,519 speeding tickets, 311 distracted driving citations, 485 seatbelt violations, and 211 Move Over Law infractions.

Compared to last year’s Labor Day campaign, which resulted in 10,240 tickets and 232 DWI arrests, the 2025 numbers show slightly fewer overall violations but a continued strong focus on highway safety.

The State Police also released a breakdown of results by troop region, which highlights enforcement efforts across the state:
