“Not a Number to Be Proud Of”: 252 DWI Arrests Made in Ramapo This Year

252 is the number of individuals arrested so far this year by the Ramapo Police Department for DWI and related offenses, including driving under the influence of drugs, according to police.

Department officials say their officers continue to work hard every day to keep local roadways safe. However, they note a troubling reality: as arrests are made, the pool of impaired drivers continues to replenish itself.

“This is not a number to be proud of,” the department stated. “It is sad, concerning, and a reminder of the dangers impaired driving poses to our community every day.” Police added that the figure is expected to change quickly as enforcement efforts continue.

The Ramapo Police Department, together with the Town of Ramapo STOP DWI program, New York STOP DWI, and Rockland County STOP DWI, is urging drivers to make responsible choices behind the wheel and to always drive sober.
