The North Rockland Central School District hosted a recognition ceremony honoring the Haverstraw Police Department and the Stony Point Police Department for their continued partnership in helping keep district schools safe.
District officials expressed their appreciation to Haverstraw Police Chief John Gould and Stony Point Police Chief Greg Becker, along with Town of Haverstraw Supervisor Howard Phillips, Stony Point Supervisor Amy Stamm, retired Stony Point Supervisor Jim Monaghan, and both town boards for their ongoing support and collaboration.
During the ceremony, officials highlighted the important role played by School Resource Officers and local police officers, whose presence extends beyond the classroom. Officers regularly engage with students during after-school initiatives such as Cops and Kids and the North Rockland Youth Police Academy, helping to build trust, foster positive relationships, and strengthen overall school safety and student well-being.
Representatives from both police departments thanked the district for hosting the event and recognizing the strong working relationship among the schools, law enforcement, and municipal leadership. They emphasized that the daily interactions between officers, students, and staff contribute to open communication and a safe learning environment throughout the district.
The district and both police departments reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration, noting that these partnerships remain vital to supporting students, families, and educators across the North Rockland community.
