New StoryWalk® Project Unveiled at Peck’s Pond in West Haverstraw

Rockland County Executive Ed Day, in partnership with the Rockland County Department of Health, the Village of West Haverstraw, and the Haverstraw King’s Daughters Public Library, inaugurated a new StoryWalk® project at Peck’s Pond in West Haverstraw with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

This engaging installation invites park visitors to enjoy the classic children’s book Jump Frog Jump! ¡Salta, Ranita, Salta! by Robert Kalan as they stroll along the loop path around the pond. Available in both English and Spanish, the StoryWalk® experience is designed to foster literacy, movement, and outdoor activity for families and individuals of all ages. The book on display will change with the seasons, ensuring fresh reading experiences for visitors year-round.

StoryWalk® projects like this one are a creative way to blend nature, storytelling, and exercise by presenting books on posts along scenic park pathways.
