A New Jersey woman was arrested in the early hours of March 1, 2025, after being caught driving while impaired on the Palisades Interstate Parkway (PIP) in Clarkstown, with a child in the vehicle.
According to the New York State Police, troopers from the Haverstraw barracks observed a 2019 Nissan committing multiple traffic violations at approximately 2:47 a.m. The driver, identified as Gina Jenkins, 39, of Montvale, NJ, was pulled over and found to be impaired.
Jenkins was arrested and charged with Driving While Impaired (DWI), along with Aggravated DWI with a Child Passenger Under 16, a Class E felony under Leandra’s Law. A breathalyzer test at the State Police barracks in Haverstraw determined her blood alcohol concentration (BAC) to be .16%, twice the legal limit.
Jenkins was processed and released on an appearance ticket. She is scheduled to appear in Clarkstown Town Court on March 26, 2025, at 1:30 p.m.
Authorities remind motorists that driving under the influence poses a significant danger to all road users, and New York State strictly enforces laws against impaired driving, especially when minors are involved.
